Mud Pie Kitchen

Mud Pie Kitchens seem to be all the rage this summer and seeing as how dirt and water are two of E's favorite things, I knew that we had to give this a go. Ours was nothing fancy but it invoked hours of  focused play and experimentation none the less.

I think the pictures capture the intensity of E's interest perfectly. Lots of precise measurements involved in making mud pie cupcakes I guess!

I don't think they need to be fancy. Its wonderfully simple and E loves it so you couldn't ask for more :)

I just love her beautiful concentration face in the fifth photo - just gorgeous :)

So cute! I've been meaning to collect up a few small metal pots and pans for my little guy to play with (because he steals mine, and I need them!).

This would be a great way to introduce them to him.

Hi I am an outdoor trainer in England and would really love to use your photos to inspire practitioners in day care to use mud with very young children .I know your blog is open to the world but dont want to use without permission. thanks Vanessa

@ Vanessa I'd be thrilled to have you use my photos. Thanks for double checking!

@Jamie - thanks! The best thing about our set up is that we can just toss all of our supplies inside the bin when we are done playing for super easy clean up!

So cute! Love the picture of her wiping her brow - cracks me up!

There really isn't much more fun to be had than in a mud pie kitchen, is there?

Thanks for linking up to Outdoor Play, am featuring this now on fb.

BTW, in case you didn't know, your Ropes Course was the featured post on this week's link up on the Mama Pea Pod page too! A great idea indeed!

I agree with things not needing to be fancy for our little ones to appreciate them. Love this post and idea, I keep meaning to set up a mud pie area myself ometime.
