Messy Monday

It has come to my attention that I have been slaking a bit in the messy play department. I'll admit I have been a little intimidated by the thought of managing a play session while having a baby to tend to. Last week E and I whipped up a batch of sidewalk paint which evolved into body painting and then finally full blown messy play when she decided to dump the leftover paint into the pool and swim in it! She had such a blast that I realized we really need to do this more often. I have decided to set aside one day a week, Monday, for messy play to make sure we get our share of fun in before the Summer is over.

Since last week's sidewalk painting was such a hit, I decided to take the experience to the next level by setting up a concoct-your-own-paint station. On the workbench I set out a variety of fun ingredients (flour, water, cornstarch, food coloring, glitter, old A&D ointment, and salt) for her to freely experiment with.  No rules, no limitations, no one telling her what she ought to do - This is where my little girl thrives! She dug right in with no hesitation. I can't tell you how much I love sitting back and watching her little mind go to work! Listening to her talk herself through her process, seeing what she she comes up with all on her own. It makes the mess more than worth it.

Very little painting was done, but so much fun was had!
