Messy Monday: Frozen Body Paint

I stumbled across the idea for painting with frozen tempera paint from Hands On : As We Grow last week and knew this was a "must try". E helped me prep the ice paint in the morning and could not wait to get up from her nap to try it out. In fact, she insisted upon taking an early nap so she could try it out sooner - lol! When the paints were finally ready, we popped them out of the ice cube tray and set up shop in the baby pool for a comfy and clean(ish) place to paint. I provided a canvas for E to paint on but, as appropriate for Messy Monday, she opted to use her body as the canvas instead.

The combination of vibrant colors, freezing temperature, and slimy texture proved to be quite a sensory experience! I was pleasantly surprised by how long the paints stayed frozen on such a hot day. What a fun way to beat the heat!

I'm not familiar with BUNCHO paint. We used washable tempera. I imagine that if it say's it's safe for children then it would be fine to use as body paint.
