Although we are a quarter of the way into our summer alphabet study, I have decided to take on a new series, ABC’s of Messy Play, where I will showcase a messy play invitation for each letter of the alphabet! Right now we are focusing on the letter G, which is why our Messy Monday activity this week was … Grape Stomping!
The set up for this activity was simple. I de-stemed 4 bags of grapes, rinsed them and tossed them in a tub with just enough water to make them float around a bit. Because I had further plans for our grapes, I swept the floor, laid down a plastic shower curtain and washed the kid’s feet before setting them free to explore.
The kid’s thought it was quite funny that they were being allowed to squish food between their toes.
Of course, being MY kids, they couldn’t resist snacking on a few
Grape Stomping looked like so much fun that I couldn’t help getting my feet in on the action!
Truth be told, Grape Stomping was a lot less messy than I thought it was going to be! I highly encourage you to give this sensory exploration a try! Check back later this week to see just what we did with our smashed grapes!
