It has been a while since we’ve done any Messy Monday fun. I wasn’t sure it was something I wanted to continue once school was back in session, but a few lovely readers encouraged me to keep up with the sensory play and I’m glad they did! It felt so good to be back at it as the kids explored our super fun (and very messy) Popcorn Pit to go along with our letter of the week – P! (please excuse the terrible photos – I was without my good camera for a day due to a luggage swap from our trip)
What You Need:
- Plain Popcorn Kernels – the more, the better (I used about the equivalent of a 30 oz jar – maybe more)
- Wading Pool or other large container
Making this much popcorn was not exactly fun, but the results were SO worth it! the kids had an awesome time rolling around in the pit of popcorn, throwing it in the air, and crunching it with their feet (we left shoes on for this activity in fear that some of the partially popped kernels would be a bit sharp).
Nana and Papa showed up in the middle of our play and brought a whole new level of fun to the activity (as usual). The kids had fun dumping popcorn all over their grandparents and before I knew it there was a full blown popcorn fight going on in my front yard.
If you’ve never had a popcorn fight, you absolutely must! The littles thoroughly enjoyed themselves and it was hysterical to watch!
